Pavithra Shetty, a staunch believer in the potential of human body and power of meditation to attain it. She quit her job as a software engineer, explored yoga, found the deepest sense of happiness and decided to to pursue it as her career. A true example of how passion can be nurtured by connecting the faculties of our mind. Here is brief summary of our conversation with Pavithra.
- It did not take me much time to realise that I did not belong (to software industry).
- I tried to push it for two years and I kind of lost my sense of purpose.
- It is always good to try, even if you fail, you will not regret. I did not want to live a life of regret.
- We are robots there, cribbing during the weekend.
- I saved to survive for at least 6-7 months without a job. This gave me confidence to quit. Savings are important.
- Rule #1 : Accept failure. Fear of failure is the biggest challenge many face. I was prepared to go broke, be judged by people, to fail. I got ready for all this before I quit.
- Have patience, keep trying.
- I was excited to go for yoga classes when I woke up each day. When I stepped on my mat, it was just me and myself.
- Yoga is going to be with me forever in my life.
- Success is subjective. For many it is a noun, whereas for me it is a verb : what new can I do today?
- People are not very bad. We just need to be nice. Take a deep breath, if nothing works.
- Don’t be afraid to follow your dreams. Go ahead and pursue.
- Don’t stop, it is a competitive world. Learn everyday.
